CrunchBase Leaderboard: Top Dealmakers of 2009

by Christian Chabot on January 30, 2010

Erick Schonfeld and Daniel Levine went through TechCrunch’s funding data in CrunchBase and published the top 25 dealmakers. Not a surprise to see Draper Fisher Jurvetson on top with 57 deals and NEA’s 47 deals having a total value almost 3 times Draper’s.

I had more questions. I wondered about deals by industry – which categories were getting the most money. And which stages were funded by whom. Here are the results.

This is an interactive dashboard that answer those questions and more. Analyze deals by month, by category, by stage, by VC rank, by VC – or a combo of those. Just be mindful that every single filter on the screen (including selecting a specific month on the trend line) filters the list of deals.

(By the way if you click on of the colored bars — and then click again — you’ll see a link to the company profile in Crunchbase.)

You can find the discussion here.
